We visited a number of years ago (sad to hear the hotel has declined), and we definitely didn't feel unsafe in town back then. That's awful to hear about the crime, too. I'm always honest in my posts and share our experiences candidly—but can't guarantee an unchanging location. That makes me doubly grateful to your feedback!

We visited Crescent City & had a much different experience than you describe. After driving through a very scary neighborhood to get to our Airbnb & finding no suitable restaurants, we checked out the crime statistics & found there had been a murder in the last month, it was a grade of D-, with overall violence in the top 6% nationwide. I get that this is an up-and-comer but please be honest with people. The hotel you mention is also very dilapidated. That said, the views are beautiful. I see why everyone tends to visit these areas in rvs, as that seems to be the only way to visit comfortably.

In reply to April. I definitely played with the kids in that epic fort, too! I'm pretty sure I was a superhero, a mommy, and a bank robber at different parts of our play. :) I hope you get to make it to Crescent City soon!

I’m sorry that I’ve never heard of Crescent City (and I live in CA!). Does one have to be a kid to enjoy that Fort park or adults allowed in? wish I had a park like that growing up! And I’ve only been to Muir Woods, but I would love to see redwoods in other parts. Thanks for a great post.
